    • Katech finds the limit of the LT5 stock bottom end at 1486 horsepower

Now, the LT5 will not grenade for everyone at 1486 horsepower but Katech certainly is showing us how strong the platform is and what gives out first as they are pushing the new C7 ZR1 engine further than anyone else. Remember, Katech pushed the LT5 to over 1300 horsepower last month using only the direct injection system for fueling.

They did that to show off the capability of their direct injection fuel system upgrades. Well, now they decided to push further to see what the LT5 could take on the stock bottom end.

They came up just short of 1500 horsepower. Insane? For a stock internal motor, definitely. The rods gave out first and Katech is already at work putting together a forged bottom end.

Keep in mind they hit 1486 horsepower with turbochargers. It is conceivable with a big centrifugal blower you could reliably make 1400+ horsepower on this platform with the factory stock motor especially once tuning options open up.

Talk about a stout engine to work from...

This is awesome, too bad the stock ECU is so locked down. I guess we have to wait for a standalone ecu to come out for this motor.
